One Woman Show in the Gallery at Iron Fish Distillery!

Going on now and continuing through February, a variety of artwork created as early as 1988 and as recently as 2018, is filling the Gallery/Reception room above the Distillery Room at Iron Fish Restaurant and Distillery.

On February 2, the distillery is having a big party – Hog and Bear Mid-Winter Island Bash - from 6pm – 10pm. The gallery will be open during this time and I will be in and out of the gallery from 6 – 8 or so.

Please feel free to visit the distillery and the gallery anytime.  Check their website:  https://ironfishdistillery.com/ for hours and location.

Below are some photos from the gallery and photos of two newer paintings.

A 1988 folding screen, "Face", done on silk with watercolor, acrylic and glass pieces with a mahogany frame by Joseph, adorns the corner while more recent paintings decorate the walls.

A bevy of smaller paintings and drawings

Two larger paintings "Star Shadows" 2018 and "Wave" 2007.

Two more paintings and a tree and table set up for a Christmas gathering in the gallery.  "Purple Sky Pines" 2018 and "Zeebs" 2011.

"Rainbow Nautilus" acrylic, oil, colored pencil and marble dust on canvas  14"x 24".
A couple of years ago I drew my own spiral according to the Fibonacci sequence 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, and so on, using graph paper.  I then used that sketch for this  painting.  The marble dust is affixed to the canvas using sprayed on casein (milk based) non-toxic fixative.  My studio is inside our house and cannot be closed off from the living areas so I have to work with non-toxic paints and mediums during the cold and the rain.  In the warmth and the dry I can work outside and use oil paints, acrylic resin mediums and turpentine, if I want to.

"Who Is Dreaming This Dream?" acrylic, oil, colored pencil and marble dust on canvas  34 x 36.
The idea for this painting began as different kinds of matter gathering into a sphere to create a planet.  Always I will start with an idea, then the painting dictates it's desires and it's very interesting to see what transpires.  It's also fun to find the hidden designs, places, images, etc.  In both this painting and the nautilus above the blues and greens are inspired by the incredibly beautiful colors of the lakes where I live.  And the stars are always inspired by the stars.  Also, I greatly enjoy feeling like I am out in space helping to create and guide swirling energy metamorphosing into another form.
