Walks in the Woods - Cool Finds

 Thursday, July 18, 2013
During a morning walk I found this red-tailed hawk wing feather:

And then later in the day, on the evening walk all these feathers from a pileated woodpecker were lying on the ground:

On this very hot and humid morning I found a lovely, downy feather from the nest of some sort of raptor.  I scanned it along with an earlier find.  Please let me know if you know the birds they are from.  I'm guessing the less fluffy one is from a barred owl?
We also scared a young hognose snake lying on the sandy path.  This one was twice as big as the little one I saw a few days ago.  He did his very cool cobra, hissing thing.

Past and Present

Since my last posting in December we sold our large, beautiful home, moved to an apartment and are now in the process of buying a small condo near Coast Guard Park.  Oh, and my husband retired!!  We drastically downsized and gave away or sold probably 80% of our material belongings.  It feels wonderful to have fewer things!  Less to dust, less to clean and less to pay insurance for - but, as you can imagine, it was a stressful thing to do.
It's been challenging finding time and space to continue painting and drawing but little by little, here and there drawings and paintings have been finished and sent to galleries and private collectors.  Below are all the paintings and drawings I have out and about, where they are and whether or not they have already sold:
The following six paintings and a folding screen are at Red Lotus Gallery in Muskegon

"Darkness and the Light"   varnished colored pencil on canvas  22 x 18

"The Lady Frees the Dragon"  varnished colored pencil on canvas  18 x 22
